Verse 1: Baby, what do you say we just get lost?
Leave this one horse town like two rebels without a cause
I've got people in Boston, ain't your daddy still in Des Moines?
We can pack up tomorrow, tonight let's flip a coin
Chorus: Heads Carolina, tails California
Somewhere greener, somewhere warmer
Up in the mountains, down by the ocean
Where it don't matter as long as we're goin'
Somewhere together, I've got a quarter
Heads Carolina, tails California
Verse 2: We can load what we own in the back of a U-Haul van
Couple of modern day Moses searchin' for the Promised Land
We can go 400 miles before we stop for gas
We could drive for a day and then we'll take a look at the map
Chorus:
Bridge: We're gonna get out of here
If we gotta ride a Greyhound bus
Boy, we're bound to outrun
The bad luck that's tailin' us
Verse 3: I was out with the boys, catchin' up at a neon light
Didn't know 'til we walked in, it was karaoke night
She was in a circle of girls, chasin' a shot with a lime
She was laughin', they were darin' her to get on the mic
One of 'em walked up and turned in her name
Next thing I knew, man, she was up on the stage, singin'
Chorus: 2: "Heads Carolina, tails California"
Maybe she'd fall for a boy from South Georgia
She's got the bar in the palm of her hand
And she's a '90s country fan like I am
Hey, I got a Chevy, she can flip a quarter
I'd drive her anywhere from here to California
When this song is over, I gotta find her
Chorus:
Verse 4: Yeah, she knew every word by heart, didn't need no screen, no
I was raisin' my glass up for her, I saw her smilin' at me, yeah
She had me down in the front by the end of verse two
Like there wasn't no-one else in the room, we were singin'
Chorus:
Beidge 2: Yeah, I bought her a round, and we talked 'til the lights came on
I still see that girl every time I hear that song
[Verse 1] A Bbdim7 Bm Bm E E7 A A A Bbdim7 Bm Dm E E7 E E7
Blame it all on my roots / I showed up in boots
And ruined your black tie affair
The last one to know
The last one to show
I was the last one you thought you'd see there
And I saw the surprise
And the fear in his eyes
When I took his glass of champagne
I toasted you
Said honey we may be through
But you'll never hear me
Complain
[Chorus] A A Bm E A A A A7 Bm E A A
'Cause I got friends in low places
Where the whiskey drowns and the beer chases
My blues away
And I'll be okay
I'm not big on social graces
Think I'll slip on down to the oasis
'Cause I've got friends
In low places
[Verse 2] A Bbdim7 Bm Bm E E7 A A A Bbdim7 Bm Dm E E7 E E7
Well, I guess I was wrong
I just don't belong
But then, I've been there before
Everything's alright
I'll just say goodnight
And I'll show myself to the door
Hey, I didn't mean
To cause a big scene
Just give me an hour and then
I'll be as high as that Ivory tower That you're livin'in
[Chorus]
Verse 1: D A E F#m
I can still shut down a party
I can hang with anybody
I can drink whiskey and red wine, champagne all night
Little Scotch on the rocks and I'm fine, I'm fine
[Chorus 1]
But when I taste tequila, baby I still see ya
Cutting up the floor in a sorority t-shirt, the same one you wore when we were
Sky high in Colorado, your lips pressed against the bottle
Swearing on a Bible, baby, I'd never leave ya, I remember how bad I need ya
When I taste tequila (when I, when I, when I)
When I taste tequila (when I, when I, when I)
[Verse 2]
I can kiss somebody brand new
And not even think about you
I can show up to the same bar, hear the same songs in my car
Baby, your memory it only hits me this hard

It was Labor Day weekend I was seventeen,
I bought a coke and some gasoline,

She was standing there in the ticket line,
And it all started right then and there.

See forever when I see your face
And I swear, God made you for me
Chous: You make it easy lovin' up on you
Make it easy with every little thing you do
You're my sunshine in the darkest days
My better half, my savin' grace
You make me who I wanna be
You make it easy
Verse 2: You took all my rough around the edges
Never let it ruffle up your feathers, angel
Yeah, I'm down for life, you got me wrapped around your finger
And I like it just in case you can't tell
Chorus

See forever when I see your face
And I swear, God made you for me

Verse 1: A few days before he turned 80
He was sittin' out back in a rocker
He said, "What you been up to lately?"
I told him, "Chasing a dollar"
And in between sips of coffee
He poured this wisdom out
Said, "If you want my two cents on making a dollar count
Chorus: Buy dirt
Find the one you can't live without
Get a ring, let your knee hit the ground
Do what you love but call it work
And throw a little money in the plate at church
Send your prayers up and your roots down deep
Add a few limbs to your family tree
And watch their pencil marks
And the grass in the yard all grow up"
'Cause the truth about it is
It all goes by real quick
You can't buy happiness
But you can buy dirt
Verse 2: Before you get caught on that ladder
Let me tell you what it's all about
Find you a few things that matter
That you can put a fence around
And then he laid it out
Chorus
Yeah, I was just hangin' out Some little west coast town
Found a bar out by the sand So I made my way in
First thing that caught my eye Like nothin' I ever seen
Sunburned auburn hair A California dream
Yeah, she was shakin' them hips To some old Motown song
I couldn't say a thing So I sang along
She was a heartache on the dance floor (Heartache on the dance floor)
Yeah, she's movin' through my mind (Movin' through my mind)
I gotta know her name, and I got to see her again
She's got me wonderin' Yeah, I'm just wonderin'
Where she at, where she at, where she at tonight?
Where she at, where she at, where she at tonight?
Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh, yeah
So I just hung around This little west coast town
I dropped by every night I stayed 'til closin' time
My little mystery That girl is killin' me
So I put on a song Just to sing along
She was a heartache on the dance floor (Heartache on the dance floor)
Yeah, she's movin' through my mind (Movin' through my mind)
I've gotta know her name, and I got to see her again
She's got me wonderin', yeah, I'm just wonderin'
Where she at, where she at, where she at tonight?
Where she at, where she at, where she at tonight?
She's got me mesmerized She's all I'm thinkin' 'bout
All I think about, think about, think about
So I'm right here, right now Hummin' this little song
If I could say a thing I'd want you to know
You were a heartache on the dance floor
(Heartache on the dance floor)
Yeah, you're movin' through my mind
(Movin' through my mind) oh
I got to know your name, I got to see you again
And if you're listenin', listenin', listenin'
Where you at, where you at, where you at tonight?
Where you at, where you at, where you at tonight?
Girl, I'm hangin' 'round this little town, yeah

Where you at, where you at, where you at tonight?
Where you at, where you at, where you at tonight?

I noticed the chord sequence of Shania Twain's You're Still The One on your
list.
I recently chorded this myself and, while the one there is nearly correct,
it is in the wrong key. Here is the correct key as found on the UK version
(if there is a difference) of her Come On Over album.
This is the same key as on the album Come On Over (in the UK at least).
What a brilliant track from a brilliant (and georgeous) singer !

[VERSE] C / / / C / G / F / C / G / / /
Spent forty-eight dollars last night at the county fair.
I throwed out my shoulder, but I won her that Teddy Bear.
She's got me saying,"Sugar Pie, Honey, Darlin', and Dear."
I ain't seen the Braves play a game all year.
I’m gonna get fired, if I don't get some sleep.
My long lost buddies say I'm gettin' in too deep.
[CHORUS] C F G C
But I like it, I love it, I want some more of it.
I try, so hard, I can't rise above it
Don't know what it is, about that little gal's lovin'
But I like it, I love it, I want some more of it.
[VERSE]
My momma and daddy tried to teach me courtesy.
But it never sank in,'til that girl got a hold of me.
Now, I'm holdin' umbrellas and opening up doors.
I'm taking out the trash, and I'm sweepin' my floors.
I'm crossing my fingers and countin' every kiss.
Prayin' that it keeps goin' on like this.
[CHORUS]
[BRIDGE]
F
Gotta wash my truck, and dress up.

This 9 to 5 ain't workin', why the hell do I work so hard?
I can't worry 'bout my problems, I can't take 'em when I'm gone, uh
Chorus:
One, here comes the two to the three to the four
Tell 'em bring another out, we need plenty more
Two steppin' on the table, she don't need a dancefloor
Oh my, good Lord
Someone pour me up a double shot of whiskey
They know me and Jack Daniels got a history
There's a party downtown near Fifth Street
Everybody at the bar gettin' tipsy
Everybody at the bar gettin' tipsy
Everybody at the bar gettin' tipsy
Verse 2:
I've been Boozey since I've left, I ain't changin' for a check
Tell my ma I ain't forget (oh, Lord)
Woke up drunk at 10 am, we gon' do this shit again
Tell your girl to bring a friend (oh, Lord)

No need to go nowhere fast, let's enjoy right here where we at
Who knows where this road is supposed to lead? We got nothing but time
As long as you're right here next to me, everything's gonna be alright
[Chorus 1]
If it's meant to be, it'll be, it'll be, Baby just let it be
If it's meant to be, it'll be, it'll be, Baby just let it be
So won't you ride with me, ride with me? See where this thing goes
If it's meant to be, it'll be, it'll be, Baby if it's meant to be
[Verse 2]
I don't need to be so uptight, but my heart's been hurt a couple times
By a couple guys that didn't treat me right, I ain't gon' lie, ain't gonna lie

Well you can tell the world you never was my girl
You can burn my clothes when I am gone
Or you can tell your friends just what a fool I've been
And laugh and joke about me on the phone
You can tell my arms go back to the farm
Or you can tell my feet to hit the floor
Or you can tell my lips to tell my fingertips
They won't be reaching out for you no more
Chorus:
Don't tell my heart my achy breaky heart
I just don't think he'd understand
And if you tell my heart my achy breaky heart
He might blow up and kill this man
You can tell your ma I moved to Arkansas
Or you can tell your dog to bite my leg
Or tell your brother Cliff whos fist can tell my lip
He never really liked me anyway
Or tell your aunt Louise tell anything you please
Myself already knows I'm not ok
Or you can tell my eye to watch out for my mind
It might be walkin' out on me today
Chorus:

She's going off about something that you said

And she'll never know your story like I do
PreChorus: Em G D A Em G A A
But she wears short skirts, I wear T-shirts

Heading down south to the land of the pines
I'm thumbing my way into North Caroline

I was born to be a fiddler in an old time string band

[Chorus] G D Am C 4X
Cause I've got a roof over my head,
the woman I love laying in my bed
And it's alright... alright
I've got shoes under my feet
Forever in her eyes staring back at me
And it's... alright... alright..Yeah
C Em Am G D
And I've got all I need
D G - D - Am - C
And it's alright by me
[Verse] Em C G D 2X
Maybe later on we'll walk down to the river
Lay on a blanket and stare up at the moon
It may not be no French Riviera
But it's all the same to me as long as I've got you
C D
It may be a simple life, but that's okay
C D
If you ask me baby, I think I've got it made
[Chorus]
[Verse 1]
G C G
On a warm summer's evenin' on a train bound for nowhere,
C G C D
I met up with the gambler; we were both too tired to sleep.
G C G
So we took turns a starin' out the window at the darkness
C G D G
'til boredom overtook us, and he began to speak.
[Verse 2]
G C G
He said, "Son, I've made a life out of readin' people's faces,
C G C D
and knowin' what their cards were by the way they held their eyes.
G C G
And if you don't mind my sayin', I can see you're out of aces.
C G D G
For a taste of your whiskey I'll give you some advice."
[Verse 3]
G C G
So I handed him my bottle and he drank down my last swallow.
C G C D
Then he bummed a cigarette and asked me for a light.
G C G
And the night got deathly quiet, and his face lost all expression.
C G D G
Said, "If you're gonna play the game, boy, ya gotta learn to play it right.
[Chorus]
G C G
You got to know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em,
C G C D
know when to walk away and know when to run.
G C G
You never count your money when you're sittin' at the table.
C G D G
There'll be time enough for countin' when the dealin's done.
[Verse 4] (transpose +1 here if you want to play it correctly)
G C G
Ev'ry gambler knows that the secret to survivin'
C G C D
is knowin' what to throw away and knowing what to keep.
G C G
'Cause ev'ry hand's a winner and ev'ry hand's a loser,
C G D G
and the best that you can hope for is to die in your sleep."
[Verse 5]
G C G
And when he'd finished speakin', he turned back towards the window,
C G C D
crushed out his cigarette and faded off to sleep.
G C G
And somewhere in the darkness the gambler, he broke even.
C G D G
But in his final words I found an ace that I could keep.
[Chorus]
G C G
You got to know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em,
C G C D
know when to walk away and know when to run.

You never count your money when you're sittin' at the table.

I was getting kinda tired

Of her endless chatter

Nothing I could say

Ever seemed to matter

So I took a little drive

Just to clear my head
A A
I saw a flashing neon up ahead

It looked like a place

To find some satisfaction
A [play first note only; then Rest]
With a little less talk
And a lot more action

I paid the man at the door
A
And pushed my way to the bar

Shouted for a drink

Over a screaming guitar

A drunk on a stool

Tried to mess with my head

But I didn't even listen
A
To a word he said
E
I knew somewhere

Amid all this distraction

Was a little less talk
And a lot more action
[Chorus]

If you please

A lot more loving

Let's get on down

To the main attraction
A [first note...]
With a little less talk
And a lot more action
A
Well she was fighting them off
A
At a corner table
A
She had a longneck bottle
A
She was peeling the label
D
The look on her face
D
It was perfectly clear
A
She said somebody please
A
Get me out of here

The look she shot me

Through the glass refraction
